Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. - Fred Rogers

Melissa S. Freeman, LCSW, LCAS-A

Thank you for stopping by! I recognize that choosing to take that first step towards growth and change for your self and family can be scary and often outside of your comfort zone.  My first job is to create a safe space for healing for you to work towards your goals.

I provide mental health and substance abuse assessments and treatment to children, adolescents, adults and families who are experiencing stress associated with trauma, adjustment to life transitions, anxiety, depression or addiction.

Treatment strategies include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), combined with Family Systems, Strengths Based and Solutions Focused approaches. Modalities include talk therapy, narrative process, play therapy, and expressive arts therapy.

I have experience working with children and families including biological parents, and foster parents who are engaged with the North Carolina Child Welfare system in a variety of roles working as an investigations, in-home services and foster care social worker, as a cottage parent in a local residential foster home, and as a licensed clinical social worker providing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to children and families.  I also have experience working in Psychiatric Triage completing mental health and substance abuse assessments for individuals of all ages experiencing crisis.  Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and expressive arts in my work, I hope to offer a place of healing to create opportunities for change.  I am recognized by the North Carolina Treatment Program as a certified provider of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Please take a minute to review my resume below, and services offered.  If you would like to book an appointment, please visit my contact page or click the link above to go directly to the client portal where you can register and book your first appointment.  I look forward to meeting you!
